The first time you sign in, Ceum takes you to Onboarding. The flow is short: set your locale preferences, pick a starter template, and you're on the dashboard. It configures your workspace — it doesn't create clients, projects, or tasks for you. You can skip any step or the whole thing.
The steps
- Welcome — an overview of the product. Choose Get started to continue, or Skip onboarding to go straight to the dashboard (with a confirmation first).
- Settings — your locale preferences: language, country, timezone, date format, and currency. Choose Continue to save them, or Skip to take the defaults.
- Template — pick a starter template (Freelancer or Developer) that seeds your statuses, task types, relationship types, and email templates. Confirm applies the selected template; Skip lands you on Freelancer as-is. See Starter templates.
- Success — a short summary, plus Continue to dashboard.
Onboarding sets you up rather than filling you with data, so you start from a clean, configured workspace and add your own clients, projects, and tasks from their pages or by importing from CSV.
Getting around the flow
- Continue — save the step and move on.
- Back — return to the previous step.
- Skip — move on without changing anything on that step.
- Skip onboarding — only on the welcome screen, with a confirmation. Marks the whole flow as finished.
A progress bar runs across the inner steps (Settings and Template), and you can click any step you've already reached to jump back to it.
Switching templates later
Onboarding runs once, but you're not locked into your first choice. Open Settings → Template (/settings/template) at any time to switch between Freelancer and Developer or re-apply the current one. If a switch would drop a status or type you're still using, Ceum surfaces it as a conflict so you can reassign the affected records first. See Starter templates.
Tips and edge cases
- Onboarding configures, it doesn't seed data. It sets your preferences and template; you create your actual clients, projects, and tasks afterwards.
- Skipping is safe. Skip a step and the preferences and template you've already chosen stay; skip the whole flow and you land on Freelancer defaults.
- Onboarding state is yours alone. Ceum is single-user — see Workspaces and users.
On mobile
The mobile app runs the same three-step flow (Welcome → Settings → Template) the first time you sign in, with Skip for now on the welcome screen. The Settings and Template steps collect the same preferences and seed the same template. To switch templates afterwards, use Settings on the web app. See Mobile navigation.
